Full Moon in Virgo, 2022
This full moon will encompass many of the inherent service-oriented traits of Virgo and Pisces. We are currently in the throws of a Piscean trifecta. With Jupiter traveling through this sign for the first time since 2011 and Neptune having occupied it since Jupiter left in 2012. These two outer planets create a strong impact, Jupiter for its expansion and Neptune for it’s hopes and dreams. With these two planets in the sign of Pisces, we are encountering a more open, accepting and diversified space. And now that openness is even great because the outer planets are aligning with the Sun, who is also in Pisces. A whole lot of depth and empathy! Pisces rules over the ideas of wholeness, confusion, connection, compassion and surrendering. Conversely, Virgo, (Pisces’ opposite sign), rules over the ideas of discernment, prudence, discretion and control. Where Pisces yearns to be all things, Virgo yearns to be the thing that works. Where Pisces wants to accept something as is, Virgo want to perfect its form. On the other hand, Virgos and Pisces do have some things in common. Both are fundamentally concerned with the idea of service towards others.
Virgo is focused on material service and what can be adjusted, fixed and helped in the physical form. Virgo will collect and painstakingly comb through all your finances in order to do your taxes, will clean your house when you’re sick and remove the grammatical errors in your resume for your next professional job. By working within the realm of reality and the limits we find in the physical world, Virgo uses structural forms such as measurements and quality tests to produce a better working order. Virgo sees a messy room and knows that to feel calm and focused, clothes on the floor and scuffs on the wall can be a distraction. Take care of those things and your mind will be clear.
Pisces is the opposite. Pisces sees a messy room as a sign of the creative flow and a process that has been unhampered. Pisces’ service is that of the emotional realm. With their heightened sensitivity, they easily pick up on your mood and reflect it. In this way, they act as a mirror, showing us to ourselves and typically from a more loving lens. Imagine a best friend that has known you for 10 years. Having a friend know your history, your struggles and triumphs and generally your mode of operation is valuable. When we encounter a person outside of ourselves that has been a witness to our lives, we encounter a different perspective. When we know someone that long (or are sensitive enough) we can sense even the smallest shift in them, whether it be in tone or body. An unspoken language that knows when we are sad or happy or grieving or anxious. This is Pisces’ service. Take away the 10 years part and Pisces can almost immediately understand the unspoken feeling and mirror it for us. Either they can show us another perspective or simply take on the burden of the emotional pain.
While the service of these two signs looks different in form, it is still an act of giving. And this is one major theme of this full Moon:
How much are you giving?
How much are you in service to others?
In what ways are you showing up in physical form and in what ways are you giving emotional service?
Typically, the full moon is taking the Sun’s energy (in Pisces this is: acceptance, chaos and wholeness) and causing an emotional reaction through the lens of the opposite sign (i.e. Virgo and needing more groundedness and discretion).
Are you worried about all the confusion?
Are you needing more structure and practical clean-up in your life?
Where have things gone too far in the flow?
How much have you been escaping?
Where can you come back down to earth and bring more realistic service to others?
This full Moon’s job is to show us where we might have lost some balance in our lives. By thinking and answering these questions, we can feel a healthier equilibrium through this confusing time.
